For Singapore residents planning to enjoy travel overseas in the coming weeks and months, the emergence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has become a worry - not least when it comes to buying travel insurance.
However, Allianz Travel insurance products include selected Covid-19 coverage*, including Delta and Omicron variants, as well as cover for epidemics and pandemics*. Medical and Dental cover limit is S$500,000 (Silver Plan), S$200,000 (Bronze Plan) and S$1,000,000 (Platinum Plan).
This means you'll be covered* should you or another insured person on your policy fall ill with Covid-19 Omicron, before or during your trip.
Omicron is expected to become the dominant variant globally, due to increased transmissibility. At time of writing, common reported symptoms among vaccinated travellers are mild, and include sore throat, tiredness and cough. However, questions remain about the threat of Omicron.
Allianz Travel Insurance Singapore policies include:
● Selected Epidemic/Pandemic coverage including Covid-19*
● 24/7 Medical Assistance
● Cancellation, Delay, Curtailment
● Loss/theft/damage of valuables
● Rental Excess cover (Silver & Platinum Plans only)

Singapore will fully reopen its borders from April 1 - meaning all existing Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) will be retired. As a Singapore passport holder, all you need to re-enter Singapore is proof of vaccination and a negative Covid-19 pre-departure test result (taken within the 48 hours prior to arriving in Singapore). All other nationalities eligible for a visa or visa-free entry to Singapore will also be able to enter under the same conditions.
From April 1, no on-arrival test or stay-home notice will be required for vaccinated travellers with a negative pre-departure Covid-19 test.
Note: You will still need to ensure you meet the entry requirements of your destination country - e.g. pre-departure tests, on-arrival tests etc.
